TREE TOMATOES

Tree Tomatoes, also known as Tamarillo, are a unique fruit native to South America and grown on tall shrubs. This fruit comes in various colors, including yellow, orange, and red, with the red variety being the most common. The fruit has a smooth, shiny skin that can be peeled away to reveal vibrant, juicy flesh. The flesh of the Tree Tomato is tangy, slightly sweet, and contains small edible seeds. The flavor profile is similar to a combination of tomato and citrus, with a hint of tartness.

Tree Tomatoes can be consumed fresh, but they are often used in cooking, sauces, and chutneys due to their tangy flavor. They are also used in beverages, such as juices and cocktails, or as a garnish for salads and other dishes. The fruit’s skin is typically discarded, while the flesh is either eaten raw or cooked. Tree Tomatoes are rich in vitamins A, C, and E, and are a good source of antioxidants, making them beneficial for immune health, skin health, and reducing inflammation. This fruit grows well in tropical and subtropical climates, particularly in South American countries like Ecuador, Colombia, and Peru, but has also spread to other regions, including New Zealand and parts of Africa. It is harvested during the warm months when the fruit reaches full ripeness.
