KOREAN BATATA

The Korean Batata, also known as the Murasaki sweet potato, is a unique variety of sweet potato distinguished by its deep purple skin and creamy white flesh. Originally from Japan, the Murasaki variety has gained popularity in Korea and other parts of Asia, as well as in the United States. Despite its vivid skin, the interior is surprisingly light, and when cooked, it becomes tender with a mildly sweet, nutty flavor and a slightly dry, fluffy texture, similar to that of a russet potato.

Rich in dietary fiber, vitamin C, potassium, and antioxidants such as anthocyanins from its purple skin, the Korean Batata is not only delicious but also nutritious. It is often enjoyed roasted, baked, steamed, or used in desserts and snacks. Its natural sweetness deepens with cooking, making it a versatile ingredient in both savory and sweet dishes.
